Today was a winder wonderland- gone wrong. It started out as a beautiful blanket of snow, but by the time we left for the museum, it turned into sleet, then to rain. Yuck! We didn't let it stop us!
Christian insisted on walking, until we got halfway through the courtyard.
No, this is not a wet, frozen rodent. It is me! Thankfully the kids stayed warm and dry. It took me a couple minutes to thaw out, but it was totally worth it. Every time we go to the museum, I think it can't get better. Every time, it does! We had a wonderful morning, learned so much {the kids and myself}, and stayed very busy.
An experiment with bubbles was a hit with the Baker crowd!
Lindalee and her boat.
Exploring "underground"
We enjoyed a preschool story time where they read a book about a little hedgehog that got into trouble. After the story the brought out a real hedgehog for the kids to see and learn about. I thought it was cute, the kids didn't last very long. Christian was a little too excited to explore the Colby Gun and Trophy Room. It's something he insists on seeing just about every time we visit. It's a neat room, but I find it depressing {lots of dead animals}. Christian is intrigued and confused by it. He doesn't understand why anyone would hunt and kill the animals {I'm with him}, but at the same time, he can't get enough of it.
Off to Paleontology school...
Dusting off a dinosaur footprint found along the Connecticut River
Dinosaur bones
Lindalee taking notes with her paleontologist kit.
Christian doing some dinosaur tracking. He learned how to use a compass, measured the dinosaur feet, determined how many dinosaurs there were, and said he knew "exactly what type of dinosaur it was, a ghost dinosaur!". I suppose he wasn't all wrong.
The audio kinetic sculpture Christian is obsessed with.
Lindalee got a little bored.
Christian could have watched it all day!
Post-rest cuddle and snack
Despite the nasty weather, we all had a great day. I'm beyond thankful {and feel so blessed} to have this time with these two awesome kiddos! Do they have to grow up?
