A morning at the Museum of Science

November 1st, 2013

So much to do, glad we have the time!
Today we decided to walk over to the Boston Museum of Science.  It was a very, very windy and dreary day, but the kids loved it.  I found it never got very windy in Charlotte, so the kids get excited when a gust of wind takes their breath away.

Looking towards the city and museum

We had a BLAST at the museum.  I became a member because I plan on spending lots and lots of time there this winter.  With the museum next to us, there really is no need {besides my sanity} for Christian to go to preschool.  The programs there are amazing.  One of the many activities we participated in was a "Live Animal Show" where they had a desert tortoise on the stage crawling around while the kids discussed it's characteristics and the reasons why it is classified as a reptile. I learned a lot. I would like to think the kids did too.  I know Christian was particularly excited about the fact that 40% of it's body weight is stored water.  Afterwards when I asked Christian questions about the show, he repeatedly said he wanted the turtle to pee on the stage, asking over and over again why it didn't.  Boys.

Checking out some bullfrogs

Lindalee didn't keep still long enough for one good picture.  Before she ran off, they were playing in the bumblebee hive.

Christian especially enjoyed doing "experiments" in the lab.

We came home and both kids napped {rare occurrence}.  We were all exhausted from such a fun {and educational} morning.
This evening, Chris and I enjoyed a nice little workout while the kids stayed entertained in the playroom.  As a reward for their wonderful behavior, we took them for a nighttime swim in the pool.  They were so cute, they both had so much fun.  Lindalee threw a fit when it was time to get out.  Having a pool in our building will spoil us, for sure.
After, another, fun filled day, I am especially thankful for our access to the Museum of Science and the educational experience it provides for my children.  Though I wish we were able to send Christian to a preschool program here, I find it a wonderful gift to be able to witness him {and Lindalee} learning and experiencing new things.
