Weekend Away

November 10th, 2013

Where have I been all weekend?  In my parent's basement sorting through boxes, or so it seems.  Fun stuff!  While I was sifting through our possessions in the deep, dark, spooky, cellar, thankfully, the kids and Chris were having a great time {in different places}.
Chris was in Athens, Georgia for a much needed and well deserved "Guys Weekend".  Christian wasn't very happy that he wasn't invited.  He got over it, for the most part, when he realized we would be spending the weekend at Meme and Papa's.
The kids had a fun weekend depleting my parents of all their energy.  I got so much done.  Despite my misery in the cellar, it was great getting our lives a little more organized.  I was also able to escape to run some long overdue errands.  Without children.  By myself.  Just me.  Although it was running errands, it was amazing.  Amazing.  I found that my lingering headache was suddenly gone.  I was remarkably efficient and felt extremely accomplished after just a couple hours.  Shopping for children's winter gear is no easy feat, especially when you aren't willing to spend $500 {easy to do}.

First snow of the year!  The winter gear came just in time.

The kids had to go outside and play in the flurries.  Christian enjoyed catching snowflakes on his tongue.

 Hot chocolate by the fire is a must after playing in the snow!

Can't get enough of this girl

Lindalee was excited for her hair bow and cowgirl boots I found while sorting through our belongings.  Zoe liked them too.

Thankfully, Lindalee gets her great style from her Aunt.  She is now able to say "Auntie Pha".  It's pretty cute!

Christian had to get in on one too

Meme and Papa spent most of Sunday morning playing outside with the kids {while I finished up with my mess in the basement}.  Meme walked them down to the lake to visit with Great Grammie and Grampie, while Papa was working on a shelter to keep the generator in for the winter.

Christian was extremely impressed with Papa's "fort building" skills.  This one is going to hard to beat!

The kids enjoyed a picnic in the "fort".

Christian is still getting used to the concept of living so close to family. My favorite quote of the weekend:   "Meme, I really like living next to you, but it's a really long car ride.  I'd rather take JetBlue."
The kids had a great weekend, but were excited to get back and see Daddy.  It was good to get home, and especially good to see Chris.  He's completely exhausted from a weekend of pretending he's 22 again, but it's still good to have him back.  It's particularly nice get home and unpack a cooler full of home cooked goodies that should last us through the week.  Thank you, Meme {and Christian!}.

Cuddling on the couch for a little treat {yes, Lindalee is wearing Christian's underwear}

Thankful for a productive weekend, fun with family, and having my husband back {completely exhausted, but in one piece}.
